One of the influential ministers in the cabinet who represents Prime Minister Baburam led panel in the Unified Maoists party has made an interesting remark and perhaps controversial as well.
Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi viewed while meeting representatives of Chhetri Samaj in Kathmandu, February 12, 2012, that the notion of Federalism as advocated by his party is not at all an everlasting proposition.
Better late than never is the realisation.
“Federalism and Jatiya Agradhikar (preferential treatment for indigenous communities) will not last for long. Federalism based on ethnicity will lead to disintegration,” said Rayamajhi against his party’s chartered line and added, “.
He told the members of Chhetri Samaj that unity between the Chhetris will make them stronger to forward their demands.
“Tie-Coat, Bhoto-Kachad and Kurta-Suruwal represent a particular community and geography. Our national dress is still Daura Suruwal”, he opined.
Appears he has no connections with NOIDA or JNU.
Making provocative remarks, added Rayamajhi, “I am of the view that Chhetri community should take the lead role in every fields of the societal matters. If you think that you are being discriminated or marginalized you have the right to retaliate.”
